How to store

  • Whole unripe avocados: Store at room temperature until they yield to gentle pressure. To speed up ripening, place in a paper bag with a banana or apple
  • Whole ripe avocados: Store in the refrigerator to extend shelf life for 2-3 days. Keep in the crisper drawer or a cool spot on the counter
  • Cut ripe avocados: Sprinkle with lemon or lime juice to prevent browning. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap or place in an airtight container. Refrigerate and use within a day
  • Cut unripe avocados: Sprinkle with lemon or lime juice, place the halves back together, and wrap with plastic wrap. Refrigerate and check ripeness daily

How to use

  • Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Mash it with lemon juice, garlic, salt, and cilantro to make guacamole
  • Slice the avocado and add it to salads, sandwiches, wraps, or burgers. It adds creaminess, flavor, and healthy fats
  • Blend the avocado with milk, yogurt, honey, and ice to make a smoothie. You can also add other fruits, such as banana, strawberry, or mango
  • Bake the avocado with eggs, cheese, bacon, or ham for a hearty breakfast. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and crack an egg into each cavity. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and cheese, and bake for 15 minutes at 425°F (220°C)
  • Use the avocado as a substitute for butter, oil, or cream in baking or cooking. It adds moisture, richness, and nutrients to cakes, muffins, brownies, sauces, soups, and more.
