The founder of Avofarm, empowered women socially and economical for 13 years in an NGO named Social Economic Empowerment women Organization (SEEWO) in Kericho County. The NGO trained them on SMEs farming and marketing their produce within the local market. The founder who was the MD of SEEWO, saw the need to establish Avofarm Produce Ltd. to start herbs farming for export and assist women to sell the avocados abroad without being short-changed by the brokers, which caused women to get low returns for their produce.
Avofarm Produce Ltd. is situated in Nkorrenkori, Olerai, Narok County. The farm is 300m from main road: Bomet–Narok Highway. The area has very good soil, fertile land, as well as trainable local youth and women, undeveloped acreage for farming. The farm sits on a 50 acres of land which is enough for large scale farming, year-round water availability from the borehole and closeness to the airport. It is 2 hours drive all of which make it suitable for farming for export. The farm’s profile has positioned itself to be a pioneer exporter of herbs from Olerai area.
